Introduction
Exploitation, Sexual Exploitation, Sexual Abuse, Sexual Harassment, and Child Abuse can have significant effects on the lives of Participants in humanitarian and development programs. In response to that, the American Bar Association (ABA) adopted the United Nations Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Six Core Principles Relating to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse as policy in 2014, which sets the international standards to prevent such conducts in these contexts. Consequently, the American Bar Association, Center for Global Programs (ABA CGP) has developed this “Safeguarding Policy to Protect Participants and Communities from Exploitation, Sexual Exploitation, Sexual Abuse, Sexual Harassment, and Child Abuse”, hereinafter referred to as the “Safeguarding Policy”, to protect program Participants and communities from Exploitation, Sexual Exploitation, Sexual Abuse, Sexual Harassment, and Child Abuse.
