The Business Law Section sponsors a collection of awards, initiatives, and fellowships, designed to honor business law professionals and promote the Section’s mission to further the development and improvement of business law.

Business Law Fellows
Provides a springboard to substantive leadership roles within the Section over a two-year term.
Leadership Academy
The Leadership Academy aims to provide Section members skills to assume leadership roles in the ABA, charitable and community organizations and their places of employment through a curriculum of advancing CLE and non-CLE programs.
Diversity Clerkship Program
Provides business law clerkship placements and mentoring to provide exposure to business practices.
Law Student Scholar Program
Helps law students navigate Section Meetings and network with practicing business law practitioners to learn more about a career in business law.
Business Law Advisors
Invites distinguished leaders and business law practitioners with national reputations to participate in Section activities for a two-year term.
Business Court Representatives
Supports current members of the judiciary who preside over courts or dockets consisting primarily of complex business and commercial litigation to participate in Section activities for a two-year term.
National Public Service Award
Recognizes the pro bono contributions of business lawyers in the areas of community development and legal services to nonprofits and micro-enterprises.
Jean Allard Glass Cutter Award
Recognizes a woman member of the Section who has achieved professional excellence in her field, demonstrated dedication to the work of the Section, and has been actively involved in the mentoring of, and served as a role model for other women members of the Section.
Kathryn R. Heidt Memorial Award
Recognizes the importance of bankruptcy education and scholarship to the ABA Business Bankruptcy Committee and the bankruptcy profession.
Outstanding Nonprofit Lawyer Awards
The Committee on Nonprofit Organizations presents the Awards annually to outstanding lawyers in the categories of Academic, Attorney, Nonprofit In-House Counsel, and Young Attorney.
Mendes Hershman Student Writing Contest
Encourages law student writings on a business law subject of general and current interest.
