Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Standing Committee 

Multicultural Judges & Lawyers Section

The general purposes of the Section, as set forth in its Bylaws, are to further the objectives of the Delaware State Bar Association (the “DSBA”), further the interests of attorneys, judges and members of the community of diverse ethnic backgrounds, foster communication and understanding among diverse groups within both the legal and greater community, encourage the public service rendered by its Members and promote the professional development and interests of its Members.

LGBTQ+ Section

The Section shall address issues that are of importance to attorneys with an interest in legal issues relating to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (“LGBTQ+”) people.  The Section shall promote the objectives of the Delaware State Bar Association (the “Association”) within the context of professional development, community building, and the study of legal issues as it relates to the Section’s purpose and membership.  To that end, it shall be the purpose the LGBTQ+ Section to improve the public service rendered by its members in legal matters concerning the LGBTQ+ community, to promote the professional development and interests of its members, to provide education to all members of the Association and the Section about legal issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community, and to provide a common meeting ground for all attorneys who are interested in the purpose of the LGBTQ+ Section.

Women and the Law Section

The Women and the Law Section promotes the objectives of the Delaware State Bar Association within the particular fields designated by the name of this Section by addressing the effect of laws upon women in Delaware and the delivery of legal services to them and to further the role of women in the Delaware legal community.

South Asian Bar Association of Delaware

The purposes and objects of the Association include the following:  the advancement of the science of jurisprudence, securing proper statutory reforms, preserving proper standards for members of the Bar, maintenance of honor and dignity in the profession, upholding principles of legal ethics and professional responsibility, cultivation of fraternal relationship among the Bench and Bar of Delaware, perpetuation of legal history and all such other and proper purposes as befit the practice of law and the proper public perception of the profession.  In addition, it is the responsibility of the Association to speak on behalf of the courts and to preserve their honor, integrity, high standards and proper remuneration, as well as to promote and increase diversity and inclusion in the bar, on the judiciary, and in the profession.
