Introduction to Immersive Entertainment and Legal Issues

The webinar will explore and explain the field of "immersive entertainment" in which live theater, exhibitions, pre-existing works (e.g. stage plays, pop music, film and television titles) and digital media combine in different iterations to provide experiential "worlds" for audiences and spectators. These range from "immersive exhibitions" where audiences enter an all-surrounding digital universe of sound, image and other sensory experiences, to live immersive theater in which the traditional demarcations between performer and audience are crossed, allowing for interactive experiences where audience members participate in, and/or determine the progress of, dramatized events. The presentation will describe several types of immersive events and will discuss the legal issues that arise in connection with these experiences.
