Jonathan is a Shareholder with Baker Donelson in its Nashville office. He served as Chair of the Standing Committee on Bar Activities and Services (2020-2023), following three years as a Member (2017-2020). Jonathan is a Past President of the Nashville Bar Association (2010) and the National Conference of Bar Presidents (2016-2017), after serving as its Diversity Chair (2011-2013). Jonathan served as Chair of the ABA Young Lawyers Division (2003-2004). He served on the Board of Directors of the American Bar Endowment (2012-2022), the final four years of which he chaired its Grants Committee. Jonathan also served on the Board of Directors of the American Bar Foundation (2005-2010). He also served on the Council of Section of Litigation (2005-2007). He has been elected as a delegate from Tennessee to the ABA House since 2009, serving on various House committees during that time. He chaired the State Bar Caucus (2021-2024) and co-founded the Metro Bar Caucus (2022-2024). Jonathan practices litigation, primarily regarding financial services and business disputes.

Jonathan is a native Nashvillian and has practiced law at Baker Donelson his entire career. He founded and chairs Baker Donelson’s award-winning pro bono program. He is an Elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church and Chair-elect of the Board of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee. Jonathan remains involved with his undergraduate school, serving on the Board of Advisors of the Georgetown University Admissions program. He teaches a class on non-profit board governance for the Young Leaders Council of Nashville several times a year.

Jonathan is married to Lisa Ramsay Cole, Managing Partner/President of Lewis Thomason, a statewide firm in Tennessee. They have a daughter Anna Grace who is graduating from law school in 2024 and a son Ramsay who is a Junior in college and plays NCAA Division III lacrosse as his team’s goalie.
