The John Minor Wisdom Public Service and Professionalism Award is presented in recognition of outstanding contributions to the quality of justice in legal communities, ensuring that the legal system is open and available to all.
Diversity Leadership Award
The Diversity Leadership Award recognizes individuals or entities that have demonstrated a commitment to promoting full and equal participation in the legal profession.
Initiatives
Diverse Leaders Academy
The Diverse Leaders Academy (DLA) provides opportunities for lawyers in underrepresented groups, including racially and ethnically diverse lawyers, persons with disabilities, and LGBT+ lawyers, to participate in leadership roles within the Litigation Section. DLA seeks to attract, retain, and develop talented and diverse leaders and further demonstrate the Section’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunity in the profession. The program also creates an important pipeline of future Section leaders.
Judicial Intern Opportunity Program
The Judicial Intern Opportunity Program (JIOP) provides opportunities to students who are members of racial and ethnic groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the profession, students with disabilities, veterans, students who are economically disadvantaged, LGBT+ students, and women.
Young Lawyer Leadership Program
The Young Lawyer Leadership Program (YLLP) provides opportunities for young lawyers (in their first five years of practice) to become actively involved in the Section's meetings, Committees, and activities. YLLP representatives will become members of a Section committee or task force, engage in substantive work, and be paired with a mentor from the Section’s experienced leaders.
